Common Name:  Western Tent Caterpillar or Northern Tent Caterpillar

Latin Name:  Malacosoma californicum pluviale (Dyar, 1893)
                        (R. Bercha, det.)

Length:  up to 50 mm

Range: Alberta

Habitat:  Various

Time of year seen: April to July

Caterpillar's Diet:  Aspen, alder, cherry, oak and willow
