Common Name:  Short-tailed Ichneumon Wasp

Latin Name:  Ophioninae
                        (R. Bercha, det.)

Length:  6 - 29 mm

Range: Alberta

Habitat:  Various

Time of year seen: Spring to Fall  (Additional Sightings)

Diet: Endoparasitoids of moth caterpillars

Other:  A wide spread subfamily found across Canada.  Most species are nocturnal and will come to light.  The adults are orange to brown with a short ovipositor.
