Common Name:  Big Poplar Sphinx

Latin Name:  Pachysphinx modesta Harris, 1839
                        (R. Bercha, det.)

Wingspan:  100 - 120 mm

Range: Throughout Alberta

Habitat:  Cottonwood stands along rivers, boreal
forest and low elevation mountainous areas.

Time of year seen: Mid May to mid July

Caterpillar's Diet:  Aspen
