Time of year seen: Summer
Diet: Leaves, buds, flowers and fruit
Other: There are three species in Alberta, S.
pilosa, S. hamata and S. carinata. They all look about the
same and are difficult to tell apart without a microscope. The adult
beetles are associated with a variety of trees, especially pine, fir, spruce
