Common Name:  Lettered Habrosyne Moth, The Scribe

Latin Name:  Habrosyne scripta, (Gosse, 1840)
                        (R. Bercha, det.)

Wingspan:  30 - 39 mm

Range: Alberta

Habitat: Wooded areas

Time of year seen: End of May to July

Caterpillar's Diet: Birch, briars and lilac

Other:  A relatively common wide spread species found across Canada from Vancouver Island to Labrador.  The adults are active during the night and are attracted to light.  The larva maybe found feeding in loosely rolled leaves on lilac, birch or briars.
