Common Name:  Lacustrine Lady Beetle

Latin Name:  Scymnus lacustris LeConte, 1850
                        (R. Bercha, det.)              

Length:  2.1 - 2.5 mm

Range: Alberta

Habitat: Shrubs

Time of year seen:  Summer

Diet: Aphids

Other:  The Lacustrine Ladybug is a widespread species that is found throughout most of Alberta.  The adult beetles are black and covered with fine hairs and have brown to black legs and antennae.  They are commonly found on small shrubs.
