Other: At ~39mm the Boreal Whiteface is the largest of Alberta's whitefaces. As with all Whitefaces it has a triangular black mark at the base of each hind wing and black legs. The top of abdominal segments S2 to S7 in females and S2 to S8 in males have continuous yellow or red marks. The chin is colored black. Immature specimens have yellow markings which turn red upon maturity in both females and males. This dragonfly is found near prairie ponds, sedge marshes and fens. (Canning, 2002, and Dunkle, 2000)
